DreamDex Decking
Now available at Truitt & White, DreamDex is real wood decking that has been scientifically engineered to out-perform both traditional wood decking and PVC/composite decking. DreamDex offers a 25-year warranty against rot, deterioration and insect infestation, as well as being comparably priced to other decking materials, so there's very little reason not to love DreamDex.
What Is DreamDex?
Made from plantation-grown, FSC-certified Radiata Pine, DreamDex decking is real wood enhanced through a scientific process that makes the Pine harder—comparable to IPE decking.
The production of DreamDex starts by infusing the lumber with "BioCore" technology, an environmentally friendly, biodegradable polymer. When 100% penetration is reached, the lumber is dried at high temperatures to set the polymer in an inert state that will not leach out and is consistent throughout the entire board. The polymer helps to minimize water absorption, which cuts down on expansion and contraction and helps to reduce cupping, warping and checking. Very light checking is normal and will not widen with age.
Is DreamDex Easy to Work With?
One of the best things about DreamDex is that it handles like normal hardwood lumber. Since the BioCore polymer is consistent throughout the entire board, cutting or ripping a board will not compromise its resistance to rotting and infestation.
Like any natural wood product, DreamDex decking will weather but can be protected with a good deck sealer. While there may be some color variation within each board and from board to board, the natural pigment is present throughout so boards can be sanded or machined without compromising appearance.
Additionally, since the polymer is inert once set, DreamDex will not react with screws or hardware so there are no special fastener systems to purchase. It can be installed 24" on center and can be fastened with trim head screws or any of the hidden fastener systems.
As for safety, there are absolutely no off-gassing or harmful chemicals to worry about around children or pets. DreamDex is also Class A fire rated and will soon be added to the State Fire Marshals list of approved decking.
DreamDex can also be powerwashed without concern for the grain raising if normal precautions are taken.
