Thermally Modified Decking

Thermally Modified Decking, or TMD, is wood that is brought to an extremely high temperature making it more durable and lighter compared to ordinary decking. It has been used throughout Europe and Asia for more than 30 years and is now available in North America. Below are a few of the Thermally Modified Decking brands available at Truitt & White's Berkeley Lumberyard:

Thermory Decking

Thermory White Ash decking is a hardwood solution that offers exceptional rot-resistance (25+ years) and longevity, combined with 100% knot-free rich, classic color. Install decking, cladding and porch flooring without being held hostage by joist requirements. Thermory’s JEM joints don’t have to rest on joists, so they reduce waste, labor costs and installation time. Durability, Style AND function. You can get all three with Thermory Decking, and you can get Thermory Decking at Truitt & White!

Pakari Decking

Truitt & White also offers Pakari TMD.

Pakari TMD withstands water absorption, preventing it from shrinking and swelling. The lumber is sourced from environmentally responsible plantations located in New Zealand and is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

TMD is put through a process of extreme heat that makes it built to last and resistant from decay and insects. With the extreme process the wood goes through, TMD is also chemical-free compared to composite decking. The wood is comfortable and convenient with a ribbed face design for better grip and comfort for bare feet, and is also smooth enough for seating applications.

Pakari TMD also can save time and money since it requires no pre-drilling unlike other exotic hardwoods. Lengths up to 16 feet allow for fewer joints effectively minimizing waste and reducing your installation costs. All while maintaining a clear, defect-free deck.
